1) Who operates Garden Hills Pool?
Garden Hills Pool is a city of Atlanta owned facility that is leased by the Garden Hills Pool and Park Association.
This benefits both the city and the community by reducing the financial burden of operating a pool on the city, while allowing
for the pool to be improved upon, above and beyond what the city is willing to invest. A group of city of Atlanta residents
comprises the Garden Hills Pool Board and with their help and the community's input, the overall direction of the Garden Hills
Pool Facility is determined.
2) I signed up for membership online or sent in my membership form by mail, when will I receive my member card and
must I wait till I have my card to come to the pool?
Cards may be picked up at the front desk upon pool check-in. They are not mailed out. Usually we receive our first batch
of cards from the printer one to two weeks into the swimming season. Until then members may check-in at the front desk using
their last name. If you have signed up online or mailed your membership in at least a week before the pool opens you should be
on our membership list on opening day. If you fill out the paperwork to subscribe after a week prior opening day it is
recommended you just bring your paperwork along with a check, cash or credit card to the pool the first day that
you attend rather than mail it in to instantly become a member.
3) Is there a waitlist to become a member of Garden Hills Pool?
There is no waitlist to become a member at Garden Hills Pool. As long as we have memberships available, anyone can drop by the front window any day and become a
member on the spot. Membership opens in March each year on a first come, first served basis.
4) May I visit Garden Hills Pool just for the day without being a member?
Garden Hills Pool is a public pool that is open to all City of Atlanta residents. Between the hours of 10:30am and 4:45pm
every day during the pool season, Garden Hills Pool is open to daily admissions. The cost is $4 per adult and
$2 per child to attend the pool for the day. Hours outside of this time frame the pool is open for members only.
5) Why do I have to pay even if I am not swimming?
You must pay even if you are not swimming because the swimming pool is not the only amenity we offer. For example, the lounge chairs,
the landscaping, the music, the restrooms, the WiFi, etc. all require financial investment and up-keep.
6) Why are there member only hours?
Many of the amenities available at Garden Hills Pool would not be available if it were not for the summer-long members
of the pool. As a perk to those who are willing to make a summer-long commitment to the pool, we offer benefits that are not
provided at other city pools. We stay open outside of normal pool operating hours, host adult, tween, and family pool parties,
among other things to say "thank you" to those who aid Garden Hills Pool in becoming the best city pool in Atlanta.
7) How do I go about having a party at Garden Hills Pool; may I rent out the entire pool for an event?
In order to have a party at Garden Hills Pool, please call the pool phone (404-848-7220) to schedule it. For more information regarding scheduling parties please look at our pool rules page. The entire pool may not be rented out for a private event. The recreation center may be used for private events however; the phone number for more information regarding renting the recreation center is 404-869-4103.
8) My child needs swim lessons, how do I go about arranging some?
Garden Hills Pool has WSI certified swim instructors who are able to teach private swim lessons. Just ask at the front desk for their name(s) and number(s). Also, if your child is on the Cool Sharks swim team, their respective swim coach may offer stroke clinics for them to improve their swimming. |
